Picking a New Sheriff

Picking a New Sheriff

On the 6 o’clock news a few nights ago they were talking about the retirement of sheriff Cashell and the fact that the county commissioners get to make the selection for our new sheriff.  They showed Bill Murdock saying that amongst the usual expected qualities of honesty, etc. that the new sheriff would have to be one who “could play nice in the sandbox with the county commissioners and the county attorney”.

Considering the fallout from the deputy pay scandal wherein County Attorney Marty Lambert, apparently, ignored the violation of the law on the part of the commissioners in what Judge John Brown called “an end run around the law” and the fact that Sheriff Cashell, apparently, could not reign in his deputies that got cheated.  I find Murdock’s words to be quite prophetic.  It seems quite clear, to me, that they intend to appoint a new sheriff who will not rock the boat of tyranny that they feel is their God-like right in ruling this county.

Following the dismissal of the 2 planning board members for, as Michael Tucker reported it, believing in property rights and Murdock’s justification that it would bring more harmony to the planning board??  It seems to me that our triad of tyranny is proudly boasting, with its usual arrogant disdain for the citizens, that they fully intend to keep stacking the deck against any and/or all citizens who would dare to challenge their delusions of grandeur, their Ruler’s Law, their self-proclaimed God-like status as the Ruler’s of Gallatin County and they are not afraid to come right out and say it.

The second principle of freedom is “a free people cannot survive under a Republican Constitution unless they remain virtuous and morally strong”.  The third principle of freedom says “the most promising method of securing a virtuous and morally stable people is to elect virtuous leaders”.  I do not know about you but, for me, when I see Bill Murdock’s smug little smirk as he makes these outrageous proclamations it makes me realize, yet again, just how fast the Constitution is disintegrating all around us.  These repeatedly brazen proclamations by this Gallatin County bureaucracy, in my mind, shows that these “LEADERS” are not only saying that they lack virtues and morality but they are damn proud of it and not afraid to tell us so!

Alexander Hamilton once said, ”Effective resistance to usurpers is possible only provided the citizens understand their rights and are disposed to defend them.”  In my opinion we, as citizens, have been sorely lacking in that department but I strongly urge everyone to remember “the courage of integrity”.

The highest courage is to dare to be yourself in the face of adversity.

Choosing right over wrong, ethics over convenience and truth over popularity ….

These are the choices that measure your life.

Travel the path of integrity without looking back for there is never a wrong time to do the right thing.

Merry Christmas to all!
