Law Enforcement Pay

The lawsuit over back pay for law enforcement personnel that was decided in their favor brings to light, in my opinion, a series of disturbing questions.

If, as reported, there is a law that prescribes the method of calculating law enforcement pay, then  why aren’t the commissioners being punished for breaking that law?  Will they now create a new tax for us to pay to make up for their deliberate and blatant abuse of the law?

Restitution should be made to the law enforcement personnel but not by abusing the taxpayers.  The commissioners CHOSE to break the law on their own.  They should have to make restitution on their own.  Where was Marty Lambert for the last 6 years?  Why did he not step in right away?  Did he encourage the commissioners in their blatant abuse of the law or simply look the other way?  Does he work for us, or the commissioners?

As with their incessant attempts to force top-down zoning on us this is simply another example of their continued attitude of ignoring the electorate.  These commissioners’ actions show us, time and again, that they think they are above the law and untouchable by the citizens.  They seem to be being aided in this delusion of grandeur by our county attorney Marty Lambert who has faced allegations of “selective enforcement” of the laws in this county on numerous occasions.

James Madison said, “The essence of government is power, and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse.”  Martin Luther King said, “Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor, it must be demanded by the oppressed.”

     Will you speak out?
